New Forums for LDS Sexuality DiscussionUsers Discuss Tips on How to Improve Marriage and IntimacyThe attitude of the Mormon church towards sexuality is complicated, but a one forum attempts to ease the problems that LDS couples sometimes have.
Mormons believe in following the law of chastity and believe in abstinence before marriage, but if anecdotal accounts are to believed, many members of the religion have intimacy after marriage, although the author could not find statistics to prove or disprove this assertion. One set of forums tries to address the problems of Mormons and their sometimes poor relations with their partners after marriage. Like many other Christian denominations, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that intercourse before marriage is a sin, but for some people this leads to problems in their relationship after marriage. A set of forums has been set up to address these problems. The LDS Sexuality forums can be found here. Areas for Discussion on the BoardAs one might expect for a board discussing how to improve the most physical parts of a person's married life, these Mormon forums are not for people under 18, and perhaps more so than many other Mormon-themed publications or websites, a disclaimer is necessary to note that the site is not affiliated with the Mormon church. Addressing the problem some young and older LDS couples have with intimacy in their relationship may be seen as a positive step, and of course, it will promote the activities needed to raise the larger families Mormons are more likely to create than most other Christian denominations. LDS Sexuality forum posters can discuss date ideas, what to do when children are around, and other adult-related themes and the limits within a marriage. Those looking for a discussion of polygamy should probably go to the sites sponsored by Fundamentalist Mormon groups or the Soulful Harmony dating web site. Caveats and Concerns for the LDS Sexuality ForumsThe posters likely started the site with good intentions, but the designers could do a little more to make sure children are kept away from the site. As it is fairly new, the forum owners will probably soon add more safeguards. What is not addressed is how to change the teachings of the church so that newlywed couples have no need to fear being intimate with their partner after the couple goes through the marriage ceremonies. As might be expected from a Mormon-themed forum, temple weddings are encouraged. At least the forums are free from discussions on the church's stance on Proposition 8 and the same-sex marriage issue. Discussions involving politics or on how to remain celibate probably would not be extremely popular on such a forum.
